10534185_336328626515874_8887117945263695527_nSometimes I randomly post little tidbits from my life. I’m not sure if that’s really of interest to anyone, but I know I enjoy “getting to know” other bloggers by the personal stuff they post on their blogs or Facebook. Kind of nice to have a face (or personality) to go along with the people whose blogs you read regularly. If that’s not your thing, hey, no hard feelings! I promise I’ll be back with another recipe in a couple of days. For those of you who are interested, I thought I’d share a little of my summer vacation back to the US with you.

So… Let’s see…

We were able to visit with lots of family and even managed to fit in a little shopping (mostly books and baking things for me). My parents even flew a Norwegian flag next to the American one, and had a sign made for the front door to welcome us home!

My husband and I took a trip down to San Francisco for our anniversary, and enjoyed visiting Alcatraz, Madame Tussaud’s, China Town, and a number of other fabulous places.

Back in Oregon, we were able to take some beautiful hikes around Central Oregon with my parents as well as make it to the coast to cool down (it was well over 90F most days in Central Oregon).

And at the end of the trip, my best friend came for a visit! We got to hang out, drink beer (or rather, I tried to drink beer since I’m not really a fan of it… she’s the beer connoisseur, not me), and pick apricots for jam. Oh, did I mention I colored my hair? I know, I bet you wouldn’t have noticed otherwise, right?

maddie's visitAll in all, it was a fantastic summer, and I can’t believe how quickly our 5 weeks of vacation flew by! Seriously, where does the time go?? I miss all of my wonderful friends and family back in the US, and I look forward to seeing all of you again next year!

But enough about me! What have you been up to this summer? Share your summer activities and travels in the comments below!

(Credit for the pictures go to my Pappo, husband, and dear friend Maddie. Obviously there are quite a few here that I didn’t take myself.)
