Boxed Cake Mix Recipe

For the cake batter:

  • 1 box cake mix of choice
  • Ingredients called for on the back of the box

Optional upgrades:

  • 1 extra egg
  • Milk (to replace water)
  • Flavored beverage (to replace water)
  • 12 teaspoon extracts
  • 1 cup mix-ins
  • 1/2 cup filling
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • Butter, melted (to replace oil)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate
  • 1 box pudding mix

Instructions

  1. Follow the instructions on the box it came in.
  2. If you’re upgrading your cake mix by adding more of an ingredient it already calls, you can simply add it at the same time as the original amount.
  3. If you’re substituting one thing for another, you can add the new ingredient at the time that the original ingredient is called for.
  4. Pour the batter into a prepared cake pan and bake to the specifications on the box. None of the below upgrades should affect baking time.
