    Triple Chocolate Doughnuts

An easy recipe for triple chocolate doughnuts!

Raise your hand if you love chocolate. Are you all raising your hands? Maybe both hands? I definitely am! Chocolate is pretty hard to beat, and chocolaty goodness in the morning... even better! I'm definitely not a morning person (I'm more of a roll over, grunt, and hit snooze sort of person), so any reason to make getting out of bed at 5:30am and trudging to work in the cold a little easier is always good. And I tell you what, triple chocolate doughnuts and a cup of hot coffee are a pretty tasty reason!

    Triple Chocolate Doughnuts
    Makes 6-8 doughnuts

    For the doughnuts:
2 tbsp. (30 grams) butter, melted
    ยฝ cup milk
    ยผ cup chocolate chips
    1 egg
    1 tsp. baking powder
    ยผ tsp. baking soda
    โ…“ cup granulated sugar
    2 tbsp. baking cocoa
    1 cup all purpose flour

    For the glaze:
    2 ยฝ cups powdered sugar
    ยผ milk
    2 tbsp. chocolate chips
    1 tbsp. baking cocoa

    For the garnish:
    Chocolate sprinkles

Start by preheating your oven to 350*F (175*C) and greasing your doughnut pan(s). In a bowl, whisk together your dry ingredients (baking powder, baking soda, granulated sugar, baking cocoa, and flour). In a large bowl, combine your melted butter, milk, and chocolate chips, and microwave for about 20-30 seconds, or until the milk mixture is hot and the chips are melting. Whisk until the chocolate is completely melted and all lumps are gone. Add the egg, whisk until smooth, and then whisk in the dry ingredients until combined. Pour (or pipe) your batter into your doughnut pan, filling each cup about ยพ of the way full. Bake for 9-10 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the doughnuts comes out clean.

To make the glaze, whisk together your powdered sugar and milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. Once the mixture gets warm, add the chocolate chips and baking cocoa, and continue heating and stirring until the chocolate is completely melted. For those of you wondering why we're heating the glaze and not just whisking together milk and powdered sugar, it's because heating it will make the glaze harden harden once it cools.

    Dipping doughnuts

Dip the cooled doughnuts in the hot glaze, and immediately sprinkle with chocolate sprinkles.
