A couple weeks ago I was asked by a family friend to make a birthday cake for his daughter. When I asked what sorts of things she liked I was told “pink and horses.” Alright, pink and horses it is! The cake itself is a light chocolate cake with 7 minute (boiled icing) frosting.
The flowers are made of royal icing and fondant (I used boiled icing frosting so that the royal icing flowers wouldn’t melt from the grease in butter-based frosting), and the “6” is a pink royal icing transfer covered in edible glitter.
The horse is made from a piece of hand painted gum paste and is attached using lollipop sticks and royal icing.
