Oh mornings... Why you gotta come so early all the time?! They're like that awkward friend that shows up to your get-together far earlier than is really socially acceptable.
15 minutes early: Cool, you're a punctual sort of person.
30 minutes early: You must have had a long drive and unexpectedly good luck with the traffic gods.
1 hour early: Oh heeeeeeeeeey, so I'm still getting ready... Care to awkwardly hang out in my living room by yourself where you can be ignored by my cat?
Sorry mornings, you're that last guy. You always show up before I'm ready, announcing yourself in the loudest, most obnoxious way possible (Seriously, why do all alarms seem to use the most awful sounds known to man? Is that REALLY how anyone wants to start their morning?!) and I'd really just like to ask you to come back at a more reasonable hour... like after the sun has risen.
The early bird may get the worm, but the first person up has to stumble out into a cold, dark house to make the coffee...
So what gets me going in the mornings? Hunger, mostly... Hunger for something that's equal parts whimsy and deliciousness... Like some sweet kitty cat doughnuts!
No... I think it's definitely more like...

Kitty Cat Doughnuts
These cat doughnuts may just be the easiest AND cutest doughnuts you'll ever make.
- Prep Time: 20 minutes
- Total Time: 20 minutes
- Yield: 12 1x
- Category: Breakfast
- Cuisine: American
Ingredients
- 12 doughnuts
- 24 almonds
- 10 oz white candy melts
- 2 oz black candy melts
- Pink powdered food coloring
- Sprinkles
Instructions
- Make (or buy) 12 of your favorite doughnuts like these mango doughnuts or these cinnamon toast crunch doughnuts. Once the doughnuts have cooled completely, using a small paring knife to cut two slits into the top of each doughnut. Insert an almond into each slit, turning slightly to widen the cut.
- Melt your white candy melts. Dip the wide end of your almonds into the melted candy and secure them in the slits you just cut. Dip the top of each doughnut into the white candy melts, making sure the almond ears on completely covered. Sprinkle the bottom half of each doughnut with sprinkles immediately.
- Once the white candy melt coating has hardened, melt the black candy melts. Pour the melted candy melts into a piping bag and cut a very small hole in the end. Pipe the mouth, eyes, and whiskers. Use the leftover melted white candy melts to embellish the eyes. Once the candy coating has hardened, brush a little pink powdered food coloring on the cheek area.
