I think we can all agree that it’s much easier to work on a flat surface, and cookie decorating is no different. Sometimes, though, those darn cutout cookies get a little bubbly on top while they bake, leaving you with a less than perfect work surface. But luckily, it’s completely fixable if you act fast! Right after you take them out of the oven, gently apply a little pressure with a piece of parchment paper and a hot pad (the parchment paper will keep the hot pad clean of any cookie grease, and nothing on the hot pad will transfer onto the cookies). Just remember the cookies are very impressionable at this point, so gentle pressure is the key here. A fondant smoother also works great if you have one. Planning on making some cutout cookies?
