Sorry ladies and gents, no tutorial today, but I did want to share with you what is arguably the coolest cake topper I’ve ever made. Seriously guys, the coolest. Now, I know I don’t normally share things that don’t involve a tutorial on how to make them, but unfortunately not everything lends itself to tutorials (like this guy). And I realize there are a lot of things I don’t share with you because I don’t have a tutorial to go along with it. So I’m wondering, would you, my lovely lovely readers, be interested in seeing posts about things I’ve made with a little information about how I made them, even if I don’t have a real, step-by-step tutorial for them?
This little guy, for example, was cut out of gum paste and hand painted with gel food coloring. I used edible food pens/markers to create the shading and the webbing on his suit because food pens show up much lighter on fondant/gum paste than straight gel food coloring. Stippling was also a big part of the shading, as you can probably see from the photo above. And that’s it. Just a little snippet of something else I’ve been working on.
As always, happy baking!
